In these most challenging times, we’ve all had to re-evaluate our priorities and how we are going to best support the organizations that mean the most to us. With that in mind, the Texas Golf Association and TGA Foundation have created a new program that will allow for more people to get involved at different contribution levels that will have a major impact on the well being of the numerous initiatives the two associations support. The program has two tiers: the TGA 100 and the TGA Foundation 1000.
For the TGA 100, we will be looking to our friends to contribute $100 to the Texas Golf Association. The goal is to enlist 1000 people to participate in this program.
The funds raised will assist in enhancing and expanding the services the association provides to its players, member clubs and the golfing public in Texas, while ensuring a strong state golf association for many years to come. Although these contributions are not tax deductible, you will be enrolled in the Partners Program at the ‘Competitive’ level as a way of saying thanks.
For the TGA Foundation 1000, the second tier of this new program, we are looking for 100 loyal supporters to provide a contribution of $1000 to the TGA Foundation. Contributions to the TGA Foundation are tax deductible to the extent allowed by the IRS.
The TGA Foundation funds several junior golf initiatives such as the TGA Works Internship, Legends Junior Tour, The First Tee of Dallas, and the Bill Penn Grant. Each of these programs is aimed at providing exposure to the game in a variety of ways to kids that might not otherwise have the opportunity.
Now in its fourth year, TGA Works provides young people from The First Tee chapters and other youth organizations around the state with meaningful summer job opportunities at our member clubs under a structured ten-week program.
Since 2005 the Legends Junior Tour has been providing the best junior golfers in our state with the chance to play in top-flight competitions without having to travel on a national basis. The Legends Junior Tour is a joint effort between the TGA and the North and South Texas PGA sections and has contributed in excess of $100,000 to Golf in Schools.
The First Tee is a national program that teaches basic life skills and nine core values to kids in the inner city. The Dallas Chapter serves over 3,000 deserving young people each year through its programming. And it works – great stories and great kids are learning about life and the game because of The First Tee.
Named in honor of the long-time Executive Director of the Texas Golf Association, the Bill Penn Grant provides funding for other junior golf initiatives not run by the TGA Foundation. Over the years, the grant has used to meet the specific needs of programs from The First Tee chapters in Texas to school programs, as well as many other worthwhile endeavors.
We hope that you will give serious consideration to assisting in these efforts and say "Yes" to both if you can. Be assured that your contributions do make a difference and will have a long-lasting positive affect on not only the future generations of golfers, but on our future generation of community leaders as well.
