PACE OF PLAY POLICY

The Legends Junior Tour takes pace of play very seriously and will do their best to ensure that each player finishes in a timely fashion. In 2009, on average, the final pairing in each tournament finished their round in 4 hours and 31 minutes. We hope to improve on that time in 2010 with increased staff and stricter enforcement of the Pace of Play policy.

The following is the Pace of Play policy adopted by the Legends Junior Tour Executive Committee. This policy was cultivated from the policies set forth by the USGA, PGA of America, PGA Tour and AJGA.

OUT OF POSITION

A group will be out of position if it (A) has taken longer than the allotted time to play and (B) reaches a par 3 hole and the preceding group has left the next tee or fails to clear the tee of the par 4 hole before the preceding group has left the putting green, or arrives at the tee of a par 5 hole when the preceding group is on the putting green. Both (A) and (B) must occur for a group to be out of position. Groups deemed to be out of position are subject to being timed.

TIMING

When the Rules Committee determines that a group out of position will be timed, all players in the group will be informed they are being timed. Other than on the putting green, the timing of a player's stroke will begin when it is his turn to play and he can play without interference or distraction. Any time spent determining yardages will count as time taken for the next stroke.

On the putting green, timing will begin after the player has been allowed reasonable time to mark, lift, clean and replace his ball, repair his ball mark and other ball marks on his line of putt, and remove loose impediments on his line of putt.

A player is permitted 40 seconds to play a stroke, and an extra 20 seconds (for a total of 60 seconds) will be allowed for:

  1. The first player to play a stroke on a par-3 hole;
  2. The first player to play on the putting green.

Even though a group regains its position and is no longer being timed, “Bad Times” are cumulative and are carried forward to the remainder of the round.

RULINGS

Should a ruling or other legitimate delay cause a group to lose its position, the group is obligated to regain its position within a reasonable time.

PENALTY FOR EXCEEDING 40 SECONDS

FIRST OFFENSE – Informed of “Bad Time”
SECOND OFFENSE – One stroke penalty
THIRD OFFENSE – Two stroke penalty
FOURTH OFFENSE – Disqualification

In addition, each player is entitled to know the established pace of play for a given round. Therefore, the time that a group should complete a given hole, i.e. flagstick placed in the hole, will be listed on each player's scorecard.
