The Legends Junior Tour was founded in 2005 under the umbrella of the Texas Golf Association Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization formed in 1999 as part of a new TGA initiative to promote the game of golf, and all aspects of the game, to a wide variety of people from all economic backgrounds. Golf as a sport has inherent characteristics of sportsmanship, honesty, self-discipline, integrity and the competitive spirit that prove to be immensely valuable in life. The TGA Foundation and the Legends Junior Tour aim to provide opportunities to players of all economic backgrounds the exposure to the game that will continue to promote the values and character needed to succeed in life. With that goal in mind, the Legends Junior Tour has started a scholarship fund to assist those with financial needs. All donations are tax deductible to the extent allowable by law. In addition to running nationally ranked tournaments, the Legends Junior Tour continues to give back to the game and the surrounding area. In four years, the Legends Junior Tour has donated more than $135,000 to non-profit groups including the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, the First Tee of Tyler, the First Tee of Dallas, the Babe Didrikson Zaharias Foundation, Shriners Hospital, the Neo-Natal ICU at Plano Medical Center and the Autism Society.
