ELIGIBILITY

Eligibility will be open to young men and women whom meet the eligibility requirements and have distinguished themselves in local, regional, statewide and national competitions. The tour will also serve as a natural progression for those players who have competed successfully in the developmental junior series conducted by the NTPGA and STPGA.

The membership eligibility requirements for the Legends Junior Tour are as follows:

  • A player is eligible until September 1 of the year they graduate high school or until they begin attending college, whichever comes first. This allows a player to compete through the summer after graduating from high school.
  • A player's division is based on a member's age as of the last day of the tournament (Click here for more information).
  • A player who starts attending college will be ineligible, but a player may take college courses prior to high school graduation and remain eligible.
  • Membership must be renewed on an annual basis in order to remain eligible.

AGE DIVISIONS

The Legends Junior Tour will be comprised of four (4) age divisions:

  • Boys 14 & Under
  • Boys 15-18
  • Girls 14 & Under
  • Girls 15-18

Additionally,

  • Points earned in one age division do not transfer to another age division.
  • Players may request to move up one age division; once a player decides to move up an age division they will be required to participate in that age division for the remainder of the season. However, if it becomes obvious the player does not currently possess the skills necessary to compete in an upper age division the Legends Junior Tour Tournament Committee reserves the right to move the player back down into their proper age division.
  • If a player requests to move up an age division they can only earn Player of the Year points in that age division.
  • Talented young women can compete against the boys, if they so choose. But first they must submit a letter, along with a tournament resume, to the Legends Junior Tour Tournament Committee requesting permission. If the Committee decides a particular player is qualified, then she can compete against the boys, but must play from the same set of tee markers as they do.

MAINTAINING ELIGIBILITY

The Legends Junior Tour is host to the finest players in the nation. The competition level is the highest offered in the state. To ensure the top level fields and highest competition players must continue to prove they are able to compete at such a high level.

A player will receive a written warning from the Legends Junior Tour office if he/she posts consecutive scores of 96 and above. Continued scores of 96 and above may lead to a suspension of membership until the player can play at the level described above.

The Northern Texas PGA (www.ntpga.com) and Southern Texas PGA (www.stpga.com) offer superb junior golf programs for players at all levels that may not meet the requirements of the TLJT.
